it's christmas (almost)

So autumn has arrived & now everyone is thinking Christmas (OK, maybe not everyone). Whether it's friends catching up, the office party, colleagues having a low key meal, departments wanting some scandal - either way, we can help. The Grove looks amazing during winter with log burners, a huge open fire & homemade decorations a plenty & the newly refurbished riverside bar & terrace is the perfect place to cosy up with a blanket and a cup of hot chocolate. Sneak a peek at our menus below & celebrate the magical time with us this year.

Christmas party menu

Santa hats for everyone, tables fully laid up, candles lit, mulled wine & cider at the ready - your Christmas party awaits.

This year we have a fantastic menu of 2 or 3 course options & some very clever technology to make it soooooooo easy for you to manage. Click to see more....

Christmas day at the grove

Take the hassle out of from the festivities this year & dine out. It's a brilliant atmosphere in the pub with everyone in Christmas jumpers, new socks & in many instances a very fancy tie.

stay in bed all day

Our Christmas sleepovers allow you to treat The Grove as a home away from home. We're open 365 days of the year & the winter months are fab. Roaring log fires, board games & chats over a bottle of wine into the wee hours.

Come & stay with us...

come on in...

Haaaave you met Sam and Bilbo? When you pop by, we suggest you say hi. Oh, yeah - they’re our pigs.

What, you don’t have pigs at your local pub? Well, you’re missing out.

Hold on, that’s not all. Our dearest Grove - a former lavender farm - has so much more to offer. How’s about a boathouse -birthday bash, anyone? -, a garden the size of a small island, a pig pen, chicks, chicks, chiiiickens, Pedro the golden pheasant, an outside bar, a terrace, delicious British food, an ale tap room, a country BnB, a lovely team, fireplaces, the Nature Reserve and oh, we almost forgot - a RIVER with regular boat trips.

Man, woman, animal, alien - everyone is welcome and there’s even dog beer for our furry friends.

P.S Make sure you bring some treats for the hobbits.

our food

We're very proud of our food at The Grove; we use British farmers to source tip-top produce to create all of our dishes. We have been using the same butcher for over seven years now & have an incredible 213 suppliers whom we support by purchasing their products & services. Obviously none of that would be possible without YOU, the fantastic customers who come through our doors every day!

News & other bits

NATIONAL FINALISTS & HIGHLY COMMENDED at the Great British Pub Awards! After the judges paid us a visit, we were announced national finalists & on the 5th October we were highly commended at a glitzy event in London. We are thrilled to be recognised as one of the best pubs in the land!

As COUNTY WINNERS at the National Pub & Bar Awards earlier this year it's turning into quite a year for the silverware!

come for a sleepover

Built in the Georgian period (1730 - 1830), our old girl has some history. In days gone past, she's been a Lavender farm & a small hotel for railway passengers travelling to Kent. Now, she's a big, award-winning riverside pub with six cosy en suite rooms on the 2nd floor. Three of our rooms face onto the river, two with a riverside balcony & the other three face onto the Stodmarsh Nature Reserve, one of the most protected wet lands in the UK & the World.

We offer a simple service which is homely, honest & friendly. If you're searching for a luxury boutique escape, we're not it. We are fantastic value for money, a place to lay your head, eat yummy food, have a natter with friends, escape the pace of life & enjoy every quirk there is to offer (there are lots). We pride ourselves in being the place you can make your own, walk around in socks, sit by the fires with your paper & a coffee, help us feed the chickens, ducks & pigs in the morning, go hunting for eggs with the kids (we have a couple of great family rooms) & head across the road for a walk in the reserve.
